Reeecently, I've been to sleepovers, been away on a get away and because I've got Zoe's newest book "Cordinally invited" as well then I thought I'd write something related to that all.
"I love giving people the best experience and providing them with a good time, knowing they will go home happy"
How to host someting...doesn't matter is it a get together with friends, casual sleepover or maybe some occasions, like birthdays, partys, Christmas, Halloween or what so ever.
Food
I feel like it's one of the most important things. Like this is where it all starts for me. Most amazing and fun idea is to bake or make something together. You can get silly in the kitchen but also have fun and make something delicious together. Also if you have a get together with many people ask what they want or what do they prefer and out of all these things you can make up a snack board. Also if you have like a coctail evening or something, then I am so loving these snack boards, different cheese, salami's, prosciutto and so on. Popcorn. Or of course everybody can bring something and then you can have a big variety of snacks. But I think if you have good food, then it's a start of a good get together. Amazing thing to do with friends, is also pizza making. There is a good chapter about it in Zoe's book, page 130- 133. Also if you have a sleepover kind of event, also think about the breakfast. I think it's as important...good thing to do are pancakes, because who doesn't love them? Or scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and spinach, tomatos halloumi or of course warm sandwiches or just sandwiches ooor cereal party is always a good idea. But consider it in the beginning of planning :) You don't want your guests to feel hungry and have something to nibble the whole time.
Decorate
I mean when it's Christmas, you can use the lights, decorations. Halloween, be spooky. Brithdays, use balloons, confetti, all the paper decorations, wrtings that say happy birthday and so on. Also just clean a bit, make everything lovely for your guest. Put on fresh sheets, towels when needed, light candles, put pillows, blanekts around. That your guests can feel like they are home, they can feel cozy. They don't have to worry. Make boards saying hey, or where you can write plans. Be creative when it comes to your place :) Also think about music, in the backround.
Activites
Ask what people want to do. The get together doesn't have to be crazy planned, but just few things that will guarantee that you will have fun and won't get bored. Or when you do a theme party, you can do things themed to the theme (what :D) But few fun games, where you can still catch up and make jokes. Board/card cames. Also to have some yourself time, you can do a pamper evening in the middle, face/foot masks. Go for a walk, adventure. Late night food trip. Watch movies. Make food. Be silly and just have fun. But do something that everybody likes, it can be as simple as spin the bottle or some Solditar or maybe some quizzes?
Make the home comfortable
I mean I wrote it to a decoration part as well. But mostly about that I think that, when a person has a place to sleep...think about what they might need. For example make a welcoming letter, put some snacks next to bed, some face care things, charger, a bottle of water/juice, earphones. Put some clothes and slippers there. So when your guest has left something home, it can still feel like home and the person doesn't have to ask. Everything that is mine is your that evening. Think about the little things, that person might want or need :) You don't want the person to feel alone like being alone in the hotel room or far away from all their personal comforts. Offer them the comforting drinks, like tea or cacao. Or coffee in the morning, if you know the person likes it.
